Puerto Criollo in San Juan is the kind of restaurant that makes you fall in love with Puerto Rican food all over again. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a vibrant atmosphere that truly captured the island’s flavor. I ordered the chuleta can-can, and it was nothing short of perfection. The pork chop was massive, crispy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside, and seasoned so well that every bite was bursting with flavor. It’s the kind of dish that instantly makes you feel like you’re getting a true taste of Puerto Rico. To pair with it, I had the mojito de parcha (passionfruit mojito), and wow—refreshing, fruity, and perfectly balanced. The sweetness of the passionfruit with the hint of mint and rum was exactly what I needed to cool down and enjoy the meal. Hands down one of the best mojitos I’ve had in San Juan. The restaurant itself was clean, welcoming, and full of energy, with music and décor that made me feel right at home. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect. If you’re in San Juan and want to experience authentic Puerto Rican cuisine, Puerto Criollo is a must-visit. Between the chuleta can-can, the mojito de parcha, and the amazing service, this place deserves all the stars. I can’t wait to go back!
This place offers a much needed well air conditioned location with clean restrooms, convenience and no wait with surprise upstairs location. The menu items are authentic, well seasoned and fresh. We ordered cod frotters and steak and the clearly marked prices for food was reasonable. What seemed a bit trifling were the unmarked beverage prices and being arbitrarily handed a bill that claimed top shelf alcohol was used. The single beverage cost more than the meal itself. I totally understand everyone has to live but the lack of forthright pricing is a hustle in and of itself. It's a shame but when you hustle me, that was your tip.
We sat outside and staff seated us as soon as possible. We enjoyed a few different dishes and thought the value for money was great. The shrimp was so fresh and delicious. We loved trying traditional food. The restroom could have been cleaner with soap and paper towel.
The service was amazing, the food was delicious, the view was great (overlooking cruise ships and town), but the beggars did harass us for food and money while we sat outside.
Amazing flavor for the steak. Amazing service. Greeted us promptly, no wait. Amazing views, area. Parking garage across the street. Can see the cruise ship from outside seating area.
Seating upstairs was great - nice view and breeze. The Mofongo was delicious, and the crab and breadfruit appetizer was amazing. Service was excellent.
